Prepare Your Contex Scanner for Windows 11
Windows 10 End-of-Life: What You Need to Know
Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025.
After this date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or patches — leaving your systems potentially vulnerable to security threats.

Our easy step-by-step guide will help you confirm compatibility, update software and drivers if needed, and give you clear next steps so you can continue scanning without interruption.

Step 2: Update to the latest versions
If your Contex scanner and scanning software are compatible with Windows 11, it’s easy to get the latest versions when you’re ready.
For current Contex scanners, before updating WIDEsystem and/or Nextimage 7, you will need to update your scanner’s firmware.
Scanner firmware is available on the Contex Support website to download. For information on how to install this, please refer to your scanner’s user manual (which is also available via the same page).
For the latest release of WIDEsystem, please visit the WIDEsystem download page.
For Nextimage 7*, please visit the Nextimage 7 download page.
Nextimage 5 is officially supported on Windows 11, with ongoing updates and assistance provided by Contex. For the latest release, click here.
Note – * Nextimage 7 is a new release of Nextimage – users with a Nextimage 5 or lower license key cannot upgrade to this version without purchasing a new license key. For users who recently upgraded to Nextimage 6, there is the opportunity to update to Nextimage 7 for free. For more information, please click here.
If you are unsure if your scanner is supported, please refer to the release notes available for each download.
Legacy scanner models
Legacy scanners are not always supported in the latest releases of WIDEsystem or Nextimage.
In these instances, you will need to download the last specific version that was supported by your scanner. You can find out which version your scanner supports via the scanner’s support page here.
Release notes also contain a list of supported scanners and operating systems. Please check these carefully.
Step 3: Plan for replacement
If your scanner or software isn’t supported on Windows 11, you can still continue using it with Windows 10 for now.
However, after October 14, 2025, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates, which means any new security vulnerabilities discovered will not be patched. Some new software features or integrations may also be unavailable.
Upgrading to a newer scanner model ensures you can take full advantage of Windows 11, plus discover the benefits of a new scanner with new features and benefit help you scan even better than before.
